Your phone is becoming a mobile office

Until recently we were thrilled for having all tools to run our office from our desktop at home. We could communicate with clients, write documents, and do the routine work at the office. Then a big leap happened allowing us to have the same but this time on our laptops being able to carry them with us around. We are now in the middle the third phase of this big change. The office tools are becoming available on our mobile phones too.

Think about this and look at the facts:

  •         Everybody has a mobile phone and they carry it with them all the time.
  •         We can call clients, send SMS messages, receive and send e-mails.
  •         We can access Internet and all information that exists there.
  •         Don’t forget the huge echo system of apps that grew around the smart phones, give us tools that we never dreamt of.

So, can we ignore this technological wave that is carrying us with it? Can we gamble our businesses hoping that this would never affect us?

There are several elements of it that you must have used already in your everyday business. Here is a list:

Your systems must be able to send SMS messages to your clients. For many clients this is the only effective way you can use to reach them. Think of professions that require being on client sites, on the road or frequently travelling.  An SMS message will reach them immediately wherever they are.

This is by far the best way to remind them of a future meeting or appointment, a renewal of subscription or insurance policy that is approaching.  Ability to send mass SMS messages from your system is today a must.

So, why so few systems are offering that feature? I can answer this.  We have added the SMS messaging to our systems and seen what this requires. Implementing every new technology is confusing at the beginning, and I was under impression that mobile technology has passed that stage. How wrong I was!
